The reason for this site:

  • It is hard to enter data on your cell phone
  • It is hard to manage your data via your cell phone
  • This site allows you to enter your data via the web and then retrieve it via your cell phone.

With this service, you can access personalized information on your cell phone such as :

  • To do list
  • Important meeting notes
  • Grocery list (your significant other can upload the list before you leave work!)

How does it work?

  • You start with one page, a "home page". Thru the web interface you can add more and more pages, such as To do, Oracle and Groceries. As you add pages, they will be added to your home page which shows up on your phone as a Subject. From your cell phone, you can click on any of the Subjects to go to that Subject's page.
  • In the example to the right, the home page has a Subject called Groceries. When Groceries is selected, the grocery list is called up as shown in the phone picture to the right of the first phone picture.

The web address to access this site from your cell phone is "http://www.unixhub.com/w/". If you don't want to type this address in on your phone you can send an email to your phone with this address in it. Then just click on the address in the email and bookmark it.

For Nextel users, you can do this either via email or by using Nextel's interface at http://www.nextel.com via the "Send a text message" link at the bottom of the page. Note: Nextel has just been bought by Sprint so I'm not sure how much longer this method will work.

Note: Your cell phone carrier may or may not charge you for web access time. This site is not responsible for any additional charges that you may incurred due to usage of this service.

Note: This service has been tested heavily using a Motorola i860 on Nextel's network. Other phones and networks may not work as well. The most important thing is for your cell phone to have a large screen and be WML 1.0 (on Nextel) and/or xhtml compliant. Try this service and let me know any problems that you have, I can be reached at webmaster@unixhub.com
