Senior systems integrator for all new computer systems at GlobalONE.  Most of the work involved Internet and network related systems.  GlobalONE is a partnership between Sprint, France Telecom, and DeutscheTelecom that was created to handle data communications on a worldwide basis.

Duties included:

• Implemented the world-wide dial-in access system.  The system uses SecureID authentication and the TACACS protocol
• Lead Engineer for the GlobalONE Datacenter move.  The move involved all aspects of moving a large datacenter to a new building.  Some of the responsibilities included network connectivity, power requirements, space requirements, physical move requirements and no downtime
• Implemented the GPS time synchronization for the datacenters in Reston, VA and Frankfurt, Germany.  The system uses Meinberg GPS-167 GPS satellite receivers and xntpd
• Performed the initial setup and configuration of GlobalONE's router security system using CiscoSecure and the TACACS protocol
• Implemented the load balancing solution for GlobalONE's Customer Workstation project using Cisco's LocalDirector

Principal Engineer (COTS CZAR)

Management and deployment of the National Weather Services' Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS).

AWIPS was a winner of Popular Science Magazine's 1997 "Best of What's New" Award.

Principal Engineer responsible for all COTS packages used on the AWIPS project. The final AWIPS configuration will be comprised of 155 systems deployed in all 50 states, Guam, and Puerto Rico. Each system is fully redundant and includes 4 HP K-class servers, several three headed HP J-class workstations, NEXRAD radar receivers, SBN satellite receivers, and multiple WAN links.

Duties included:

• Test and evaluation of all COTS software and upgrades used on AWIPS
• Version control of all COTS software
• Interface with Production Control and Configuration Management to update the Bill Of Materials (BOM) and ensure that the baseline software configuration is correct
• Review and update the VDD and COTS Software Evaluation Report before each software release
• Evaluate and certify all software for Year 2000 compliance
