Tube replacement in my 1972 Fender Twin Reverb (Silver Face)

This is a little project that I started in March 2003.

This project is not done yet... I still can't decide what I'm going to do about the caps (capacitors). They look like they are in really good shape, but most people say replace them.

I bought this amp back around 1980 (used) when I was in High School. It has been used off and on over the years. I'm not a professional musician so it has not seen real heavy use. (In fact, it sat in my parent's basement for many years)

I've replaced all of the tubes and it sounds really good (love that Fender sound). Now, I'm deciding how many more parts to replace to make sure that it last another 30 years.

WARNING: There are high voltages inside of a tube amp that can KILL you (even if it is not plugged in). (The capacitors retain a charge of 170 - 400 volts for driving the tubes.) Do not mess around with the insides of a tube amp (or tube TV) unless you know what you are doing.

And no, for all of you computer dudes, a static strap will not work. It would simply turn into a stream of fire

The chassis again. Note: the reverb input cable is on the wrong side! (red paint on connector) I guess that this is why the reverb didn't work! I switched them and now the reverb works.

Chassis again, this looks like an AB763 (SF). I was sort of hoping that it was a AA763 (BF). But, since it has the master volume controller I knew that it *probably* wasn't. (The 1972 models seem to be a weird transitional year for Fender)
